ABILENE – Dr. Rosemary Black Snodgrass was named to the Herald of Truth Ministries, Inc. Board of Directors at its regular quarterly meeting.

Snodgrass begins a three-year term with the non-profit and joins 11 other board members who serve the 70-year old ministry. Herald of Truth (HTM) began in 1952 as a television and radio ministry. The non-profit then started a global ministry and has ministry directors in Cuba, Spain, Central America and Africa. In 2020, HTM started a new initiative called Mission: Evangelize America to help encourage and equip churches in the United States to carry out the Great Commission in their own communities.

“Dr. Snodgrass brings a wealth of experience and insight to the HTM Board,” said HTM President Greg Swindle. “Her career as a certified, Christian counselor, dean and instructor at Heritage Christian University along with her extensive mission efforts will help this ministry. Dr. Snodgrass also brings a perspective to the board as a Christian woman, wife and mother, and she will make this ministry stronger and much more effective in its mission to share Jesus Christ around the world.”

Dr. Snodgrass is a member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ in Florence, Ala., and she served as an Assistant Professor of Counseling for Heritage Christian University. She spent 16 years teaching at HCU while also serving as the Dean of Women for 15 years. Dr. Snodgrass served as the lead faculty member for the Master of Ministry, Ministerial Counseling degree at HCU, while also serving as the director of the Alpha Counseling Center. She is a licensed professional counselor and holds an Ed.D. and a M.A. in counselor education. Dr. Snodgrass presents at women’s events and participates in many missions efforts. She also serves on the board of Mars Hill Bible School in Florence, Ala. Dr. Snodgrass is married to her husband, Don, and is the mother of three and grandmother of five.

“We are excited to have Dr. Mary Snodgrass join the Herald of Truth board,” said Rick Elam, HTM Board of Directors’ Vice Chairman and lead member of the board training/service committee.

“We pursued her because of her leadership ability, her Christian world view, missions experience and her passion for equipping people for ministry – a perfect fit for the HTM mission,” Elam continued.

Dr. Snodgrass says she is looking forward to serving on the board.

“My husband and I have been looking forward to our retirement years to have more time to be involved in mission work and teaching,” Dr. Snodgrass said. “The opportunity to be involved in the mission and work of Herald of Truth is a perfect match for our desire to support the spread of the Gospel both abroad and at home.”
