Years ago, a song came out with the words, “I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way.” Every time I am around Christian teens, I am impressed with their love of Christ and their evangelistic zeal. I’ve met young people interested in being preachers, youth ministers, church planters and foreign missionaries. But why wait until after college for them to be evangelistic? As you may recall, we established the Baxter Legacy Scholarship in 2020 to award scholarships to evangelistically-minded college students who are committed to sharing Jesus on their college campuses.

When Bastell Barrett Baxter was working with Herald of Truth in the ‘60s and ‘70s, he made it a point to take young people on campaigns and equip and encourage them to share their faith in Jesus. We have established a scholarship in his name to follow his example.

Our first two scholarships were awarded to Hannah Byers from Kentucky (who is attending Freed-Hardeman) and Corbin Cherry from Florida (who is attending Harding University). But this scholarship is not limited to those attending Christian schools. We want ambassadors for Christ in state universities, trade schools, community colleges and private universities. We believe this scholarship will make an eternal difference in the lives of young people!

This Giving Tuesday (November 28), we are asking you to help fund these scholarships. This is a four-year, $6,000 scholarship. We awarded two last year, but with your help we hope to award four at the minimum. We believe if we invest in these students today, we are making a wise investment in the security of the church of tomorrow.

Will you help us fund the Baxter Legacy Scholarship?

You can give in one of two ways.
1) You can give online at on Giving Tuesday.
2) You can mail a check in the enclosed envelope, and it will be entered into our system Nov. 28.

Can we count on you to help equip and encourage a few exceptional young people to share their faith in Jesus on their college campuses?

Thank you in advance!
