The Mind of God

The Mind of God

Now that we understand that God has a personhood, we can begin to recognize his conscious thought and ordinate concern for his creation.  He has a mind.  His concern is that his creation reflects his personhood by being in a state of right.  God is constantly in a state of right, and he wants his creation to reflect him in that way.  Ironically, God’s righteousness requires that his creation have free will, a mind of its own, the ability to choose God or disregard him.  We created beings take our ability to make up our own minds completely for granted, self-righteously considering our decisions our privilege.  This ability can create an attitude that blinds us to the consequences of choosing a path that leads away from God.

God already knows this.  He knows everything.  He lives outside of time.  He can see the entire human timeline and can appear and be present and act at any point within it.  That’s why he is “I AM”.  He knows we will choose the path away from him.  That’s why at the right time Christ came and died (Rom 5:6) to provide us a way to be grafted in to the salvation of God through the sacrifice of Christ (Rom 11:17-24).

Paul puts it this way in 1 Cor 16:14-16:

14 A natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15 But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16 For who has known the mind of the LORD, that he will instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ.

The mind of God has already appraised our situation and seen our plight.  The only way we can achieve the righteousness of God is by being grafted into the family of God by the blood of Christ.  The Supreme Deity is concerned about his creation and has made a way for us.  I pray that everyone will come to this realization and surrender to his righteous, loving care.
